Martha’s desire

Take me, take me! I can’t take it anymore! Martha repeated incessantly when the pain took her mercilessly.

Her body, which was once an example of beauty, health and strength, is now just worn-out flesh eaten away by ulcers, her bones reflecting her extreme thinness. Now she faces the ailments of a terminal cancer that, little by little, steals her life.

However, those who hear her pleas ask for one more day for her. They pray that her pains will stop. But her daughter, Rita, does not. Rita wanted her mother to stop suffering. She asked God, the Universe or any entity with power to grant her wish to die.

jOne night, upon hearing Martha’s desperate pleas, Rita ran to the window and in desperation began to scream to heaven:

-She wants to go! -She wants to go! Don’t make her suffer anymore. Take her away!

Her grandmother could not believe it. He scolded her fiercely and demanded that she never wish her mother dead again. She will be healed and return to us as usual.

Rita, incredulous, answers him:

-As always? -As always, Grandma? Nothing will be like always anymore. She can’t take it anymore.

She left the house that night, she did not have the strength to see her mother suffer like that. Soon the days passed and the agony became more exhausting. One afternoon, Marta calls her and asks her for a favor:

-Take me to the beach, I want to talk to you.

She didn’t have the courage to say no. They went out as they could. Marta looked at the sea as if she were seeing it for the first time. For the first time in a long time, Rita saw her smile. Martha asked her to stop. She sat down next to her mother, in silence.

After a while, Martha told her the following:

Rita, I’ve been struggling with this for so long and I don’t want to do it anymore. I have thought a lot and I want to leave, that is why I beg to leave, I don’t want to feel pain anymore. I am not afraid of death. I am not afraid to leave. During this time of suffering, I have understood that your life will go on with or without me, but promise me that you will let me go and try to make your life, to be happy and to take care of your grandmother. Think that after leaving this plane, I will not suffer anymore.

Rita only managed to look at her and nod her head. Deep down, she doesn’t want her mom to suffer, but she doesn’t want her mom to die either. However, she understands that this is not about her. It’s about her mother’s wishes.

That same day, Martha dies peacefully and smiling. Silence invaded the room. There were no words, no crying, no complaints. They just looked at each other and hugged, and as they did so, they felt their hearts breaking. However, even though it was very hard for them, Hiromi’s wish was finally fulfilled: she no longer suffers.

Who Do I Follow on Steem & Why – Initiative

Community? …was a category I didn’t understand in my early days at Steemit. At first, I was only satisfied to write. I couldn’t leave my blog. So time passed and like many, I also left for a while.

Luckily, I came back. When I did, I checked a post by @radiosteemit and entered their Discord Channel. With a little bit of fear, I said hello and was received with a lot of affection by the people who were connected there. Soon, they rushed to tell me to connect to the voice, because I was about to start a program.

My thoughts were, voice… program… what is all this? I ended up connecting and listening to the program and even entered one of their contests. I didn’t win, but I loved the moment. Result? I stayed in that community.

I attended all the activities and, little by little, I made a lot of friends. Talking to them, I realized that there was something else behind my blog. There were experiences and tips that could lead me to learn how to make my journey here.

In this community I met many beautiful people and soon discovered that two of them live in the same city as me and, better yet, it turns out that they live very close to my house. One of them is @antoniarhuiz a wonderful person always willing to help and to get your attention, if necessary. Toña, as I affectionately call her, has become my godmother.

She taught me how to use the sources of the photos well, to get closer to other communities. She keeps me up to date with all the activities. She is always there to advise me on and off the platform. Today, there is no excuse that prevents us from being in touch with each other and I love that, because we broke the barriers of virtuality to materialize our friendship.

The other friend, @mafalda2018 is a woman with a very good mood and ideas to share. She is always willing to help others. Her good humor and laughter are contagious. With her, I’ve reconfirmed that even if things don’t go well, there will always be a reason to laugh.

Eventually, I joined @club12, a group of real, vibrant and powerful women. There I met @sacra97, always attentive and diligent my beautiful Sacra. She is always attentive to everything that happens inside the platform that I take away from her. I learned to be in contact with other communities and attentive to the contests.

I also met @marybellrg, an inspiring, hard-working and smiling woman. From her I learned to be more demanding when writing and to steal time to try to have everything on time.

@Lisfabian is another person I met here. Definitely a being of light. Always with a message that relieves the pain and always gives us a hand. I think that’s what I take away from him, his ability to make others’ lives lighter and happier. She says I’m motivating, but, in reality, she inspires and motivates everyone.

Being part of the team of @radiosteemit, allowed me to get closer to other people of other nationalities, like @avellana and with her I learned how to program music, how to manage and promote a program, how to relate to other people and much more. I know I have things to improve, but from here I take this opportunity to express my gratitude for opening the doors to me in @radiosteemit.

And finally, because I also had the opportunity to meet a gentleman who came into my life at the best time, with him I started a great adventure and together we have been able to overcome any obstacle.

This is @yonnathangmy husband steemit as I call him, he has also impacted my life here. He is always attentive to my steps and gives me a lot of advice and although I never seem to pay attention to him, I appreciate from the bottom of my heart that he is always there to help me. Just a very important person to me on and off the platform.

There are also other users that I would like to keep mentioning, but for reasons, of space, as I’ll leave it for another post Hahaha! but first, to finish, as I want to thank @theycallmedan for generating these initiatives that inspire us to talk about the people who walk with us here.

The images I show here were provided by the users mentioned in this post. The central image was created by me using powerpoint.

Saints’ Day and my neighbours

In my town there are all kinds of neighbors. Some are polite, they’re the kind of people who see you in the streets and greet you with a Hello, neighbor! Others don’t even look at you. My grandmother says that these people are evil, because they came into this world with a very bad disease that makes them bad neighbors.

Every town has an all-knowing neighbor, and there’s one in me too. He knows so much about everyone that when you do the local census the mayor just calls him so that the manager can update the town’s figures ha ha ha! I’ve always wondered if every town has one of those like my grandmother says.

There are also those in my house who call themselves invisible. These are neither seen nor felt and, for some reason, are my grandmother’s favorite. I always ask her why and she doesn’t answer me and just thanks God for their existence.

But there are other neighbors in my town who are very annoying… and very much so. Those neighbors turn on their partying at all hours. They bring out the ponds, the drums and their little haunted bottle and spend up to three days in celebration. My poor grandmother says that this kind of neighbor invites all of us when he has a party, but I don’t understand that, because an invitation never arrives at the house and once I went to celebrate with them and they took me out there. That day my granny scolded me and didn’t let me go out for a week. I still don’t understand why.

But there are also neighbors who do not fear God as the old men say. Once the partying neighbor started the party and another very determined neighbor appeared and bathed them all and ended the party in one fell swoop. My grandmother has a lot of admiration for these neighbors, because she says that these people balance the scales of justice. Sometimes I don’t understand my grandmother very much, but that day I understood her clearly, ha ha ha!

But everything changes on the day of the Saint of my people. That’s the one day when everyone forgets the bad stuff and we can sit together in the square. On that day we share jokes, stories, liquor, soft drinks and cakes and there are always some neighbors who put their hands to work for a good soup…

My grandmother, always with her things, says that that day a spell hovers over my village and falls on all the houses like a kind of blizzard that sweetens our hearts and makes it possible that only one day a year we can share.

I don’t know if that’s true, but I know there’s a neighbor who makes some really tasty cakes for that day and I always enjoy it. But that only happens once a year, after the spell wears off and the partying neighbor goes back to his habits, the old woman who knows everything counts for everything and so the impetuous neighbor does what he has to do to balance the scales and so on until the next year.

But what are we going to do? That’s the way the neighbours in my village are.
